Ferdi Karoğlu, has more than 10 years experience providing counseling and dispute resolution services primarily with respect to Corporate, Commercial, Energy and Public Procurement Law.
Among other representations, he has represented the Republic of Turkey in international arbitration cases in which the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources was a party. For instance, Karoğlu represented the Republic of Turkey before the International Chamber of Commerce, in a case in which the Ministry of Energy and Nature was a party, regarding the assignment of the operation right of Kangal Thermal Power Plant. USD $309 million was at issue in that case. He also represented the Republic of Turkey a case before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), brought by a Dutch investor which sought damages in excess of 400 million Euros arising out of the termination of its contract to develop a large-scale housing and business project. Similarly, Karoğlu also participated in the annulment phase of the Libananco case, which involved the highest amount in dispute in the history of the Republic of Turkey. All three aforementioned cases were successfully concluded in favor of Karoğlu’s client, the Republic of Turkey.
Karoğlu, at the same time, represents several mid-to-large scale commercial companies in the national and international arbitration process and also provides pre-litigation counseling services.
With experience in the mergers and acquisition as well as joint venture agreements, Karoğlu provides legal service for the process of implementation of joint venture partnerships in various sectors especially in France, Ukraine, India, Tunisia, and Russia. Karoğlu also offers high-level legal security and risk assessment for local companies operating abroad.
Karoğlu also provides consultancy and advocacy services to companies operating in the electrical and natural gas markets that are regulated by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) and other Ministries
Karoğlu has extensive experience in the field of Public Procurement Law. He offers consultancy and representation services in the application process before the relevant authority and also handles litigation against decisions of the relevant authority before administrative courts.
