Murat Vanlıoğlu Returns Shell Company of Turkey Ltd. as Senior Legal Counsel

Murat Vanlıoğlu, an experienced Solicitor (England & Wales) and Advocate (Turkey), has returned back to Turkey as Senior Legal Counsel after 9 years of international assignment in London and Muscat.

Murat Vanlıoğlu's legal career has been marked by a diverse range of accomplishments. Murat will be based in Shell Türkiye but will continue to be doing his global integrated gas and upstream role virtually from İstanbul and will be reporting to Shell IG & Upstream legal, London. Murat offers a plethora of experience to his post, with a demonstrated history of working in the oil and energy industry and an incredible 17 years of managerial experience as Head of Legal. His specialties include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and contract law.

Murat holds an LLM with a focus on United States Law from Washington University in St. Louis. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional legal acumen and leadership skills, making him a valuable addition to Shell's legal team. Prior the current role, Murat served as Head of Legal in various countries, including Oman, Abu Dhabi, and Syria.

Murat has confirmed that he has delighted to have returned to Turkey after 9 years overseas assignment and would like to share his thoughts on the important skills required for this role, as well as the challenges and benefits it presents as follows;

Several crucial personal and professional abilities are required for success in my work. Given the nature of the company's operations in the Integrated Gas & Upstream - Conventional Oil and Gas sectors, effective legal acumen and skill are critical, particularly in the areas of M&A, Joint Ventures, Legal Compliance, Dispute Resolution, and Contract Law.

Furthermore, strong leadership and management skills are required to supervise the legal team and effectively engage with stakeholders from other departments. My extensive years of management experience as a Head of Legal across diverse settings have honed these talents, enabling me to adeptly navigate intricate legal challenges and drive positive transformations.

Finally, agility and the ability to keep up with ever-changing legal and regulatory landscapes are critical in ensuring a company's commitment to long-term success.
