    Att. Zeynep Bağır graduated from Bilgi University in 2019 with a merit-based scholarship and gained experience in different law firms by doing internships both abroad and in the country. She is specialized in Data Protection Law, Dispute Resolution, and Corporate Law.She takes an active part in the compliance processes of companies with the Law on Protection of Personal Data No. 6698. Besides, she is providing legal consultancy concerning data protection, litigation, commercial, and other business transactions. She is admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association and speaks fluent English.

    Cumartesi Gününün Yıllık İzin Hesabında Değerlendirilmesi

    4857 sayılı İş Kanunu’nun (“Kanun”) 56/5 maddesinde yıllık ücretli izin günlerinin hesabında izin süresine rastlayan ulusal bayram, hafta tatili ve genel tatil günleri izin süresinden sayılmadığı düzenlenmiştir. 2429 sayılı Ulusal Bayram ve Genel Tatiller Hakkında Kanun’un 3. maddesinde ise hafta tatilinin pazar günü olduğu belirtilmiş olup cumartesi günü hafta tatili olarak sayılmamıştır. Bu sebeple, kural olarak Cumartesi günü de iş günüdür ve hafta tatili olarak sayılmamaktadır.

    Assessment of Saturday in Annual Leave Calculation

    In principle, Saturday is also a working day and is not considered within weekly rest period. Accordingly, in a place where the employee works five days a week, in other words between Monday and Friday, in the calculations regarding the annual leave period Saturdays are not considered as a weekly rest period in the calculations regarding the annual leave period. However, if it is explicitly agreed in the labour agreement concluded between the parties that Saturday is a "weekly rest period", it shall be considered as a weekday or general holiday as stated in Article 56 of the Law and shall be deducted from the annual leave period.
