Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan A. YAVUZ is a partner at BOSCA Law and also serves as the head of the criminal and criminal procedure law department at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law.
Hakan A. YAVUZ completed his undergraduate education at Ankara University Faculty of Law, followed by a master's degree at Kırıkkale University on "Fraud in the Turkish Penal Code", and a doctoral degree at Gazi University on "Supervised Release in the Criminal Justice System". He conducted postdoctoral research at Leiden University and Vrije University Amsterdam in the Netherlands between 2014-2018. He served as a research assistant in the criminal and criminal procedure law department at Kırıkkale University Faculty of Law between 2002-2004; after completing his judge/prosecutor internship between 2004-2006, he served as a public prosecutor in Erzurum Şenkaya and Çorum Alaca, and as an examination judge in the International Law and Foreign Affairs General Directorate and Criminal Affairs General Directorate of the Ministry of Justice between 2011-2014.
Between 2014-2018, he served as a justice counselor at the Turkish Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands, and worked in the fields of international legal assistance, extradition of criminals, transfer of convicts, transfer of criminal prosecutions, transfer of criminal enforcement, and international criminal law.
From 2019-2023, he worked at the Supreme Court Prosecutor's Office in Turkey, dealing with crimes such as smuggling, terrorism, organized crime, fraud and robbery, bank embezzlement, sexual offenses, forestry offenses, and trademark infringement.
He is the author of the books "Smuggling Crimes in Practice", "Alternative Methods to Prosecution in Criminal Procedure", and “The Penal Execution System and Supervised Release”, as well as numerous articles in Turkish and English in national and international academic journals, and scientific translations and academic papers presented and published at symposiums, congresses, and conferences.
