Merter Özay, the founder of our office, graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Law. He completed his master’s degree in Galatasaray University Institute of Social Sciences Private Law Department and he is at the Ph.D. dissertation stage for the Ph.D. study he has been continuing in the field of private law at Galatasaray University Social Sciences Institute.

Prior to the foundation of Özay Law Firm in February 2014, Mr. Merter Özay worked as legal and corporate relations director at Carrefour Turkey for almost 10 years. He was also appointed as a member of the executive board and the board of directors of Carrefour Turkey. Real Estate Law, Competition Law, Contracts Law, Litigation - Dispute Resolution, Commercial Law, Labor Law, Law of Obligations, Intellectual Property Law and legal aspects of retail, franchise, unions, lease, construction in return for flat, reconstruction are the main areas of his expertise.

He still advises major national and international companies in every aspect of competition law. Along with his legal experience, he also provides his clients with legal advises combined with business savvy and therefore, Mr. Merter Özay is valued and trusted by his clients.

Merter Özay represents our office through his roles as Chairman of the Joint Commission of Retailing Assembly of Turkey and E-Commerce Assembly of Turkey under the organization of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey; Deputy Chairman of the Board of Food Retailers Association and Chairman of the Legislation Committee; Chairman of the Legislation Committee of Chain Stores Association; Shopping Malls and Retailers Federation of Turkey Legislation Committee Chairman; Tourism Restaurant Investors and Gastronomy Enterprises Association; member of PWN (Professional Women’s Network); Lead Network; member of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Turkey.
